Title: Cooperative Communication Strategies for Sensor Networks: The Virtual MIMO Broadcast Channel Case
Authors: Chulhan Lee, Sriram Viswanath (Poster II, 7)

ABSTRACT

This poster's focus is on enabling cooperative communication in a relay-based sensor network. We assume a sensor network is composed of clusters which are aggregations of nodes, i.e., sensors. In each cluster, some nodes act as the "cluster-head", i.e. as relays that act as a port of communication between the cluster and the outside world.

Our goal is to facilitate cooperative communication in such a scenario by enabling common messages to be sent to the cluster-head, allowing nodes in the cluster-head to work cooperatively amongst themselves. We find this enability problem to be a minmax optimization problem between MIMO broadcast and correlated MAC capacity regions, whose solution is characterized as a specific subset of the intersection-region of these two capacity regions.
